No. Hes supposed to be a highschooler at this point. The most he should have done is called the police, but as a nerdy terrified kid whos been bullied all his life it totally tracks that he might be too scared. Its a shitty thing to do, but one shitty mistake perpetrated as a child doesnt make someone "a garbage human". And besides, he definetly makes up for it.

No he should not have. Unless your trained or have some type of force multiplier jumping in to fight off multiple guys is often a death sentence. Even if you have some type of weapon and training its still often a death sentence. He didnt have powers yet, one stomp to the skull is enough to kill him. Any one saying otherwise is living in fuckin fairytale land and is gonna get themselves killed trying to stop a gang mugging. You cant help shit if your dead and youll likely make any situation you try and enter unprepared worse. Peter's actions at this point should be judged as a normal human highschooler's
