New technology allows smartphone cameras to see the shape of blood vessels in fingers.

指や手のひらの血管の形で、本当にその人かどうか調べる技術があります。指紋より正確に調べることができるため、この技術を使う銀行のＡＴＭなどが増えています。

Technology for examining the shape of the blood vessels in the fingers and palm of the hand can identify who a person is. Because fingerprint scanning is less accurate, this technology is being quickly added to ATMs

日立製作所は、血管の形を調べるためにスマートフォンのカメラを使う新しい技術を作りました。カメラで指を撮ると、指の色などを細かく調べて、本当にその人の血管かどうかわかります。

In order to examine the finger's blood vessel structure, Hitachi is quickly developing new technology for smartphone cameras. If you take a photo of fingers with the camera, such aspects as the colour of your fingers are closely examined, and the identity of the owner is verified.

日立製作所は、来年にはインターネットで買い物をしたり銀行を利用したりするときに、新しい技術を使うことができるようにしたいと言っています。

Next year Hitachi says it plans to make this technology available for internet shopping and will make the new technology available for general use.
