Americans Coming To Bogotá For The First Time

I'm here now for the first time. OMG I love this place. We're here on a guided tour intended to demonstrate what a great cycling culture Bogotá has, and it's sure true compared to most places, especially for recreational cycling that have a long day to go to reach the levels of Copenhagen but still it's nice. What did I like? The trip to Monserrat. Incredible view. The graffiti district. Many neighborhoods: La Candelaria, Usaquen among them. If you're here on a Sunday do ciclovía. This is the birthplace of that event and still the world's best. 100 miles (not a typo) of major routes closed to cars for families and everyone else to enjoy by bike and foot. It's tomorrow and I can't wait.

Also, the gold museum but not because of the gold but rather the anthropology.

Read the FAQs on this sub. I found them helpful. I don't speak Spanish for shit which is definitely a problem but I try hard, use translator apps and show respect and I dont have a problem.

It sure seems safe to me but we're on a protected tour so don't take my experience s typical. The locals I speak with say don't go out alone at night unless you know exactly what you're doing and don't make a target of yourself any time of day (in my case that means don't put my fancy cellphone on my handlebars and ride around!)
