Oh my god. I actually identify as Christian but I’ve stopped going to church for years now because of crap like this. I’ve always attended the more “liberal” churches but even the most liberal ones will eventually let you down with some unbelievable sexist, racist, homophobic nonsense. (Please leave the cherry picker, you should just become an atheist comments for another time and place.)

While not as extreme as this guy, churches actually do spread some horrible ideas about gender. Let me give you an example.

So they’ll have women’s appreciation week and things like that with female pastors speaking about being empowered as Christian women, and I shit you not, they actually talk about how women need to “know our place” and “know when to step down and let the man lead.” This is a direct quote from a sermon I once attended. Not even paraphrased. The female pastors will give you examples from their own lives about how during a family crisis they trusted their husbands to lead and it all worked out and how they don’t aim to become the head pastor of the church because god intended men to be leaders and women to be submissive to them. Unfortunately, a lot of older Christian women wholeheartedly believes this. I’ve gotten into arguments with them about this and they’re like “Well look at the Smith family from down the street! That woman is the dominant one in her household and look how rocky their marriage is!”

Like dude. What the fuck?
