Assalaamu alaykum and welcome to /r/Islam! Please read this before posting

So I've added more to the rules, and I have also added other possible changes. I want to make sure that everyone agrees with everything (like a consensus or ijma ul-/r/Islam lol). If you feel something(s) are not good then please voice your opinion! Trust me, don't worry about hurting my feelings, I'm not going to be offended :).

Related Subreddits:

I'm personally of the opinion that we should not include links to /r/shia, /r/salafiyyah, /r/insertsecthere because that would be us promoting division amongst Muslims. We are all Muslims here on /r/Islam and we should all feel free to voice our opinions; there is no need to lead certain groups of Muslims away from /r/Islam and to other subreddits, nor should we be promoting this. Therefore, I have opted to change some of the dead sub-reddits for some other good ones, and not for sect-related subreddits (suggestions are welcome). If you disagree with what I said above, please let me know.

  • /r/Hijabis - A fun place for the modern Muslimah. (Keep)

  • /r/Converts- Resources and helpful discussions by and for converts to Islam. (Keep)

  • /r/Recitation- Recitation of the Qur’an by redditors and others. (Keep)

  • /r/TheDailyMuslimRage- A place for Muslim rage comics. (Remove)

  • /r/EatingHalal- A place to share tips on.. well, eating halal! (Keep)

Moderation Policy:

  • Be kind, respectful, and sincere. Please feel free to ask any questions, engage with us in positive intellectual discourse, or just hang around :)

  • We do NOT tolerate trolling, verbal abuse, disrespect, or comments that incite others based on difference of belief, race, ethnicity, etc. Do not engage in these sorts of altercations. Instead, report them and move on.

  • Users should always phrase their questions in a polite manner to ensure proper responses. Failure to do so may result in your post being removed.

  • Users who post questions regarding the religion on a specific topic should not have their threads derailed or be proselytized about other beliefs.

  • Be respectful in your responses and always assume the best of others. Remember that the tone and how you convey your message has a direct effect on the responses you will receive. Harassing people by constantly berating them or singling them out is not appropriate. If another user has skewed views/interpretations, you should politely discuss it with them. There is absolutely no need to belittle or humiliate them, especially in public. When you insult someone you will become even more less likely to convince them that you are right and they are wrong. [this can probably be shortened]

  • Keep your comments on topic. If you have other concerns that you would like to voice, feel free to create a separate thread.

  • Do not give or imply any rulings. You can refer to and cite other rulings given by scholars.

  • We do not allow cross posting and NSFW/NSFL posts for various reasons.

  • Do not link threads from here to other subreddits (and vice-versa). Vote brigading is not allowed as per reddit rules.

  • When posting a question or requesting help please clarify your intended audience (Muslims only, Inter-Faith only, etc.) if necessary to ensure adequate responses. (Either this or the last flair listed)

Failure to abide by the rules may result in your post being removed, a warning, and/or a ban depending on the severity of the incident.

Additional Flairs:

  • Hadith / Qur'an

  • Question / Help

  • Discussion

  • Islamic Study / Article

  • News

  • Funny

  • Video

  • Misc.

  • Muslims Only - (Either this or the last moderation policy rule above)

Frequently reoccuring questions:

There should be a bigger or more visible notification for people to see which says to check the wiki and search the history of this subreddit for common/general questions before posting. I was thinking right under the yellow notification we can add a red one so that it stands out. Please consider this highly professionally photoshopped image by yours truly as an example:

And we can add something along the lines of what /u/Logical1ty said to make them feel better "Posting the same things over and over will result in your post not getting much attention. It's not because people are willfully ignoring you, it's because your question was probably just recently addressed."
