4/3 - 4/6 New releases thread

I admit I'm wrong then. Nike does more than I thought. When i see all these pre order services filling 50 slots I assume, wrongfully apparently, that Nike does nothing. I just wonder if they could be doing more or if they even care enough to

I keep thinking back to Ticketmaster. I remember back in the early 90's a 50,000 seat concert would sell out instantly on Ticketmaster. Now buying concert tickets is a much more reasonable experience. Yeah, the best seats in the house are gone in seconds but you can get in the show without getting reamed by a scalper.

I admit I'm not tech savvy at all but can't Nike implement captcha that changes with every attempted purchase? One purchase I need to pick images. Next purchase I need to enter letters. Can a bot solve captcha if it doesn't know what kind of captcha is coming at it? And as for pre order services, if I understand correctly they work by one person collecting people's Nike accounts then filling carts and telling people when to check out. Can't Nike then take action against the person who filled the carts and the people who checked out? Sure, the pre order guy might be up and running next week but if Nike keeps penalizing these people maybe some of them will close up shop because the money isn't worth the hassle. I admit I don't know much about technology but I know bots probably can't be eradicated. But can't Nike make it a pain in the ass to use them on a large scale (pre order services, resellers scooping dozens of pairs). What about legal action? Can using a bot constitute fraud?

Hasn't Ronnie Fieg fought bots with some success? What has he done in the past?

This doesn't even affect me on a personal level that much. I'm at the point where I'm happy with my collection, I rarely chase heat and when I do buy it's older stuff off Ebay most of the time. And when I do miss a release I take the L and don't run to ebay and pay double retail. It's just sad to see where the industry is heading. It's lame as fuck when someone cops tons of a release and then marks them up to some crazy number and it's sad people gotta pay someone extra to purchase something off NDC. I hope the sneaker craze fizzles out soon because I hate seeing all the new bullshit that came along once everyone and their mom became sneakerheads. Take me back to 91 when I could walk into Footlocker days after a drop and walk out with my size.

Thanks for the info regarding what Nike does. I admit I was wrong to say they do nothing. I just wonder if they could do more.
