Backyard hens' eggs contain 40 times more lead on average than shop eggs, research finds

I grew up here and had my blood lead levels tested all through school. The school had programmes for extra hand washing before eating even back in the 80s. My blood lead levels were high. But luckily there's no link between lead levels and any types of cancer or anything too nasty. Apparently can cause learning difficulties but our family has been fine (medical professionals and multiple STEM degrees between us). I'd be more worried about PFAS near the RAAF base and the cancer links there. I now live in the new estate on the old Sulphide site. Our ground was scraped back to rock, tested, then new soil was trucked in for the whole yard. We also have raised garden beds with new clean soil for our gardens and fruit trees. There's so much unknown pollution everywhere in this town, I'm at least happy I know what's here!
