Barack Obama Isn’t Afraid of Being a Politician

I read a couple hundred pages of Obama's memoir, and it completely changed my view of him - I think he was right to question his own narcissism and megalomania.

His thoughtfulness is very attractive in a president, but a lot of it is predicated on that 2008 era abstract respect for institutions and conventions. Social media and Trump have made us all so terminally postmodern that it's too easy to see how hollow Obama really is. His major criticism as a candidate was his lack of experience - it turned out to he right. Pete Buttigieg might at least someday turn into an effective leader after his time in the cabinet, but he suffers the same problem as Obama - all talk (and very articulate!), no game.
