Am I expecting too much as a junior DS ?

I'm a Director of Data Science at a big retail company. What you're describing is not uncommon for a junior DS, especially if the company doesn't have a separate dedicated "analytics" function. I would say that the experience you are getting is actually valuable -- being really good at the basics makes you a better Data Scientist in the long run. I find too many people only want to do the cutting edge ML work without a good grasp fundamentals or ability to think about how data science can drive business value.

My bigger concern is that it sounds like you don't have anyone that you can learn from. So I agree with the comments about taking online courses etc, but as you start looking for new jobs, make sure you seek out a place with a lot of experienced, more senior data scientists that can mentor you.

BTW where do you work? Send me a PM if you don't feel comfortable sharing in the comments.
