College in the U.S. Is More Expensive Than in Any Other Country in the World

There is little doubt that college costs in the United States have increased faster than any other costs. Why? It is certainly not the expense of having great teachers. About 70 percent of college teachers are low status low paid adjuncts. The adjuncts are judged unworthy of full-time permanent positions. There are college teachers with doctorates that qualify for Food Stamps. The clear problem is an explosion in the number of administrators--who constitute a rentier class extracting resources from productive use. How did this rentier class become so powerful? They satisfy liberal requirements for large bureaucracies that support liberal causes. The low income minority students pay a large price for bureaucracy. The bureaucrats benefit, not the students who need help. The students get teachers who have the status of part-time employees at McDonalds. And to make the situation completely absurd: the low status, low paid teachers with no permanent connection to the institutions of higher learning are the people who decide on the grades that are put on transcripts. Do the transcripts indicate the status of the teacher who assigned the grade for the course? No. The colleges and universities want to commit fraud, so the transcripts offer not indication of the status of the teachers giving the grades. College is a racket. Why students endure this racket is unclear. They are clearly being abused.
