Controls tech

CST/CSL/CSE are all useless when it comes to resolving robins arms issues. None bother to learn it. Can’t resolves slam line printers & smartpac issues (even smartpac engineers can’t even resolved their own equipment).

Every single update, brings new problems that kept building on top of previous one. High DEP, unscannable packages, muting censors, LiDAR camera, cognex scan, etc. My tech 3 mentor was way more knowledgeable on the robin than CST/CSL/CSE. One robin constantly shown false fault (meaning no red light in zone 1 & 2 but normal green light appeared), the robin arm just idling even when packages are on the conveyor ready to be pick up. Fanuc tech/engineer came out one day and didn’t even resolved the issue. This go on for 3-4 months before prime week.

It took RIE Amazon engineer 24 hrs to figure out the issue. He had to reinstall the program from back up file (ARU website is your friend).

You better know your stuff. They’ll ask text book question. How many PLC program languages are there? Name them.

For CSL position, my mentor and another CST (with BS engineer and can code) got a passed over to a tech 3 (no degree) whom I never heard of this week. 90 days waiting period to reapply.

In the end it doesn’t matter you have a boss recommendation or good performance review. The interviewers (who have no idea the problems we faced on floor), will choose whoever answered those text book questions correctly or sounded. You can literally googled the questions during zoom interview.
