Day-to-day life and work in FEMA?

Jumping in here as one of my teammates had a disability and was unable to do physical labor. On projects your TL should be advocating for you to get admin work, and unless you’re in LOG it should be easy for them to find that kind of work for you. There was only one project that couldn’t meet that accommodation and the TL was pissed. Eventually they worked something out with FEMA, but they had to get NCCC involved. PT can be shifted to accommodate, though, as can most team requirements. In the day to day it didn’t come up much.

Unfortunately with travel and some lodging it isn’t just isn’t possible to have every accommodation met- I don’t mean to dissuade you, but I know my teammate struggled a lot sometimes and the TL only had so much power to change our situations. But she made it to graduation and the team supported as best we could along the way. You should definitely still apply if you’re interested, but know that you’ll likely have to advocate for yourself and remind people of your needs often. NCCC tends to forget them, and it sucks, but it still doable and you’ll have your team to help along the way.
