as a fairly recent convert to islam, i would like to extend my hand in peace to mr dawkins.

i have always been curious about what it was that was responsible for creating gravity and time and bacteria, etc, just fyi.

when i was converted to islam approx two years ago, immediately two of my muslim brothers approached me in the mosque and they told me that there are two things that will destroy a civilization, and that those two things are liquor and loose women.

converting to islam basically means that i believe that the prophet muhammad(peace be upon him) is the last messenger of the creator of this world and that there is only one creator, and his name is allah.

the Muslim profession of faith (“there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad(peace be upon him) is the messenger of Allah”).

this is islam in a nutshell.

another aspect of islam that i was made aware of is that as muslims we try to do things the way that the prophet(peace be upon him) did things.

for example, we muslims enter a restroom with our left foot first, and when exiting a restroom you should exit with your right foot first.

it was explained to me that when going from a dirty environment into a cleaner environment that you enter the cleaner environment with your right foot first, and that when you go from a clean environment to a dirtier environment you should enter that dirtier environment with your left foot first.... this is the precise explanation that was given to me by one of my more enthusiastic muslim brothers.... i remember the last time that i saw him was when he was in quite a rush to catch a plane to turkey, and he made it there just in time for a militant coup which turned quite violent..

so we muslims try our best to do things the way that the prophet(peace be upon him) did things.... such as:

do not eat while standing up. always sleep on your right side. when going outside, always wear a cap on your head. dont yawn, this means that satan is peeing in your ear.

when walking down a sidewalk, never yield to nonmuslims, meaning that we should not move over to let them pass easily, but instead we should demonstrate that we own the sidewalk.

another lesson that was given to me when i went on tablighi mission with two of my muslim brothers, one of which is a medical doctor, they gave me a lesson about what to do if i am in my home and both the home on my left catches on fire and the home on my right catches on fire, and that the home on my one side is owned by a nonmuslim and the home on the other side is owned by a muslim, which house fire should i put out first? i suggested that i should try to put out bother fires... my brothers just shook their heads and told me to put out the muslim house fire and that was the end of that lesson.

one lesson that i was taught several times by my brothers is that the female is considered to be the greatest curse ever inflicted upon man.

and then i studied islam by meeting muslim ladies by signing up an account at muslima.com... i interviewed dozens of muslim ladies for marriage, and i insisted that i would like to have two or perhaps three brides, just like the prophet(peace be upon him) had, and that i might even enjoy to marry one of my brides when she is six years old, as the prophet(peace be upon him) did, but that i would not actually bring her into my home until she is nine years old, again, as the prophet(peace be upon him) did.

my point is that if we indeed do think that the prophet(peace be upon him) is the most perfect man that ever lived, and that we should do things like he did things, then why dont we all have at least one six year old bride?

also, one story that i was told about the prophet that was interesting is the one where some lady would throw garbage at him when he would pass by, but the prophet(peace be upon him) never did say anything agressive to her and he never got mad at her, but instead one day when she did not throw garbage at him like she usually did, he went to check on her to see if she was okay.

another interesting story about the prophet(peace be upon him) is that one day a man entered the mosque and started urinating on the floor.... many men wanted to forcefully stop him from doing this, but the prophet(peace be upon him) instructed the others to allow him to finish, and then the prophet(peace be upon him) proceeded to clean up the mess himself.

my point is that if we really did things the prophet did things, would we be chopping off people's heads for atheism? what about the lady that would throw garbage at the prophet(peace be upon him)? isnt it likely that she was an atheist? did the prophet(peace be upon him) chop off her head? or did he show to her peace?

and then my brothers in islam started calling me an fbi agent, omg, lol...

one of my muslim brothers, a pakistani, would sit behind the muslim cafe next to the mosque and rant about how he hates the fbi and about how he hates the president of the united states and how he wants to poison the president and to poison the children of the president... and then he would say "bahstards" and then he would turn his head to look at me...

one day, i had had just about enough of him calling me a bastard, and so i just walked up to him and opened my hand and slapped him and i told him that i am not his bastard...

he started whining like a little girl and told me that he was going to tell his friend ali what i did.

the interesting thing is that he ranted that stuff about wanting to poison the president and the president's children at least half a dozen times, in front of many other muslims, and they never even so much as blinked at him.

one day, when i was leaving the mosque, a man grabbed me by the arm and told me that people have been known to disappear from the planet, he wanted me to leave the mosque.

i really enjoy mr dawkins.

have a nice day.
