Ik Yang vs Patomsuk Pathompothong
Round 1
Here we go. Yang very awkward in there. He eats a right hand and he’s tasted his first blow. A big right over the top by Yang and Pathompothong grabs on. Yang with a heavy body shot and hook as Pathompothong covers up. Yang doubles his jab, comes with a right and that isn’t a clear blow. A very nice lead right from Yang. Pathompothong comes with a chopping right hand. A straight right lands. Yang has found something he can use. Yang with a nice left hook, he heats a right hook, but Pathompothong had to back into the ropes. A hard overhand right from Yang. Yang looks really comfortable. Yang telling his guy to come forward, he doesn’t so Yang lunges at him and lands a right. Pathompothong concerned with Yang’s power.
Round 2
A 15 second delay going into the 2nd as the feed went out. Nobody is on the canvas which is good. We probably missed nothing. Pathompothong is trying to fight on the inside, he’s moving inside and Yang tries to unleash his hooks when he does. Yang with a right over the top. Another right and he’s yelling at Pathompothong to fight. A big right over the top partially blocked from Yang. Yang doing a very nice job here and he switches southpaw. Yang not falling for Pathompothong’s wide loaded shots. Awkward angles here by Yang and he just gets hit in the arm pit. Yang with a jab and a chopping right that is blocked. Pathompothong with a jab to the body. Yang drills him and nods his head with a smile.
Round 3
The satellite feed for box nation is struggling because we’re missing a lot here in the third. Yang hurts Pathamomthong with a right hand. Both guys trying to throw one punch at a time and it’s making for a much slower pace than you would anticipate in an Ik Yang fight. Nice counter left by Yang but he eats a left and he counters with a nice right hand. Yang countering and laughing. He’s fighting off the back foot, now he moves forward. Yang gets het with a right behind the head. Yang gets in a late blow.
Round 4
Pethamompthong hits Yang with a nice right and a left. He’s getting some shots in here and Yang takes him down to the canvas. That looked straight out of a wrestling match. Yang eats a very nice uppercut. A right over the top by Yang. Yang looking for his right hand. Pathompthong landing a right, he lands it again. He’s starting to come on now. Yang with a body jab. Yang with a big right over the top, but his head is snapped back by a right. Yang with a nice jab but he gets countered with a right over it. Yang is getting outboxed here in the 4th. Two rights for Yang start to close the gap for him. A lead right by Pathompthong. Yang continues to eat the right over the top.
Round 5
Yang has a nasty cut on his face. Looks like his face has cracked open. No blood streaming, just a deep gash. Yang comes out and is on the receiving end of a body jab. He lands a vicious left hook but Pathompothong is landing in volume. Yang had better hope he catches this guy because he appears to have given up winning the boxing match and is going for the knockout. Yang goes ofr a short hook. Pathompothong misses a left and Yang gets him with a nice right. A nice body shot by Yang and Pathompothong counters off the ropes with a right. Pathompothong isn’t landing as much as his fans might think, but it’s enough to win the rounds on activity alone. Yang with a right over the top, blood streaming down from that cut now and a crushing right hurts Pathompothong. Yang knows it. A big right again and a left. Pathompothong is badly hurt. Yang with a left and right. Another right. He’s pounding him around the ring. He’s got him trapped on the ropes. A huge crushing right and left and Yang is obliterating Pathompothong. Referee allows him to survive but he took some serious punishment there.
Round 6
Yang just gestured to his opponent to come to the center and did the throat slashing thing. Referee warns him. Yang comes out and he’s landing some heavy shots already. His opponent on steady ground though. Yang is acting hurt and then lunging forward. Yang with all the tricks tonight. Pathompothong misses to the body and Yang makes him pay. Nice lead uppercut and a hook by Yang. Yang points to the corner and comes in. A huge left and right. Yang is hurting Pathompothong with evader punch. A big right and left and the referee jumps in to stop it as Pathompothong crumbles to the ground. Ik Yang with the master class. Provodnikov would be so proud. Announcers just said of Ik Yang, “This guy is really marketable. He’s crazy and he can punch.”
