Working as a Recording Studio Owner and Recording Engineer, it is commonplace for Bands to come in over the course of a year, and record up to 25 songs for an Album ... some remain ... some get dropped, and a lot of the time, new songs get written ...

The end result of hundreds of hours of Pre Production, Tracking Time, then Mixing and Mastering usually ends up to be somewhere in the vicinity of a dozen tracks on the Finished Product ...

Much of my own personal favorite material from these Projects is the stuff that never made it onto albums ...

The Film Industry works in much the same way ... which is why we often see Director's Cut versions that contain a lot of footage that had to be trimmed out in the end in order to make it feasible for Cinema Release ...

The unhappy Reality of the situation in many cases though simply boils down to money ... Budget Constraints, Investor's Expectations, and the ever looming Release Date deadline that plagues the Industry on the whole

What we, as Consumers often end up with in the end is far from what Developer's either intended to, or even wanted to give us ... but, rather what they were Able to provide as a Finished Product given the situation ...
