The entire point of that cult was that it was a red herring. That was the joke. The entire point of the season was that none of the threads panned out and Dory caused all that damage for nothing because Chantal just “needed to find herself”. That was the big twist at the end of the season, which was very in line with the shows dark humor. None of it mattered and Dory caused a mama death for nothing, all in her search for purpose. Again, this is not some serious crime drama/mystery. It’s a satire with a very specific sense of humor. I think you guys just need to watch Breaking Bad or something cause you were clearly see Search Party as a different show all these year
