As a full time worker, married and recently father, playing in what little is left of my day, this hit a little too close to home

So even though you feel this way, statistically speaking women take on more responsibility when raising children, a lot of the time carrying the mental load, which is the not the responsibility of doing something but rather being the one who’s planning and responsible for getting everything done. This is reflected in women being unhappier when married while men live a little longer and are happier when married.

Also if we look at this a little more far sightedly, having kids has a negative impact on mothers careers and a positive one on fathers. More generally speaking men who are fathers are perceived a bit better, but you could conclude that from the first.

What I mean by that is, is that you should definitely be mindful of privilege all the time, even if „your situation is totally different“.
