Hi Everyone!

After a successful first grow I’ve had some frustrating set backs with two separate grows stalling out in jars (using PGTs Broke boi tech).

The first grow saw mycelium but it stalled out after I shook my jars. When I disposed of them they smelled sweet but also gross… no bueno.

I swapped out a fresh spore syringe from a different batch round 2 and this time didn’t see any mycelium after 2-3 weeks. When trashing the rice I noticed the same sweet smell but didn’t notice any mold growth.

Does this sound like my rice might be too wet and the moisture is too much? I’m pretty lost because I haven’t don’t anything differently since grow 1 but have been humbled since my beginner luck. For reference, I generally boil whole grain brown rice for ten mins to soften it up without breaking the grains.

Any ideas appreciated!
