Bro I *live* in Turkey lmao. Every single thing you can count as a tax in this country applies anywhere else in the world either, even for the USA.

New consoles, smartphones are expensive because they directly imported from a foreign country, which makes it to cost according to their price transformed to Lira, for examples if they sell the console 999$ in their country, they will want to sell it for 999$ in Turkey either because they produced both at the same expense, but if the console were made in Turkey it would be priced differently since the expense would be different that's a different topic from taxes.
(I know what you mean though, especially about cars but the reason they're expensive is not solely because of "tax", but it of course normal for you to think like that since you learn all the things you know from the memes. xd)
