I started using Linux since Ubuntu 11.04. I was in eighth grade at the time. The reason I switched to Ubuntu from Windows was because the pirated copy of Windows I was using at the time came with a bazillion pre-installed malware. Any malware you could think of, my Windows machine probably had it. I looked online and someone told me that there were no malware for Linux. So I downloaded a copy of Ubuntu, burned it onto a DVD, and booted into it. When I realized that I could try Ubuntu without installing it, it was a revelation. I used the live environment to make a backup of my files onto a USB drive, and installed Ubuntu and haven't turned back from Linux since.
