Got my letter in the mail

Some suggestions on finding work to get experience.

  1. Cold call every single electrical contractor in your area that, distance wise, you're comfortable driving to for work. don't have experience. Tell them you're dedicated, you've got good grades in school, you're always timely, that electrical is what you want to do and you're ready to prove it. Blah blah. You gotta sell yourself.

I was able to get my first opportunity this way about 3yrs ago.

2. Try solar. I worked Residential solar for over a year non-union. They were always looking for people. Solar work is electrical work, it's not the most interesting work, but it's something.

If that fails try cold calling contractors again in Spring. That's usually when things start to picking back up in construction.

Take Community College electrical course.

You can apply for reinterview after having like 3 months of experience in my local program. That way you don't have to wait a full year to reapply.

It's takes some people years to get just fyi. It's rough. But persistence pays off.
