>>New Review - Chane A1rx-c<<

Your reviews and demos are great. Definitely an improvement in space over the last demo room you have.

I wanted to get your advice, my current set-up is pretty far from budget but could possibly use an upgrade. About 6-7 years ago poking around on Craigslist my brother saw a listing for a full 5 speaker Def Tech set-up with what the guy claimed was a semi-broken amplifier, a Pioneer Elite VSX-24 that could only output stereo sound. All for $900. The towers are the old bi-polar BP2004TLs, a CLR 2002, and pretty large rear surrounds.

Took the amplifier to my local Magnolia Hi-fi which is a high end audio dealer in my city, and had it sent out for repair, came back $150 later in perfect condition.

The center and the towers both have built in subs, and I bought a Polk PSW 12" a few years ago on a crazy Amazon discount. Had I known about this resource, I would have probably gone a different route on the sub but its here now. It generally sounds great. Movies, music, etc.

I went out and bought my girlfriend a SMSL SA-60 and the Micca MB42Xs on your advice, she has never owned a stereo or had any real ability to listen to music outside of her car or her Iphone speaker. I thought she might appreciate being able to hear what a really high end set of speakers actually sounds like, and went to a different (expensive) hi-fi store to demo some equipment.

The guy played some Sam Smith out of a pair of Bower & Wilkins, which were great, and then some Golden Ear Triton 7s. Apparently the founder of Def Tech left and started this company. The Tritons sounded incredible. Like emotional resonance type of good. Obviously a benefit of a bigger properly set-up room. And newer tech, ribbon tweeter.

Doing the math, the speakers retail for $700 each. The shop is expensive, the dealer takes their cut, the sales rep takes their commission, etc, and pretty soon you can assume the speakers actually cost closer on the production side to maybe $200-$300 each. Figured the Chane A3s and A5s have similar technology, and aren't being available in stores so are being sold at closer to cost.
