I guess Hotslogs has made its stand...

honestly, the whole ad block crowd are a strange sort of e-socially "acceptable" conspiracy theorists. That, or they have no self control and can't keep themselves from clicking banner ads.

right now there's a Coca Cola ad on hotslogs. Guarantee you're not going to contract malware by being subjected to its presence, or even -GASP - clicking it.

I used to be a creative at an ad agency, and I have created more than my fair share of banner ads for clients. No, I have no idea why they still pay for them and demand them. I can tell you, however, that they pay a lot of money for them (way more than I had imagined coming out of school) and I've never once created one that had any sort of malicious intent (aside from, you know, advertising to people). Mostly we were tasked with trying to make them somewhat clever, tolerable or interesting, because the stark reality is that people just block them out naturally - if not with ad block.

I can see the argument for both sides of this, but at the end of the day, he's chosen to generate revenue by selling ad space. If a lot of the traffic has adblock on, he isn't making anything. So honestly, if you actually enjoy and support hotslogs, you should browse the site with adblock off, and hell maybe even get crazy and CLICK a fucking ad because CTR = revenue.

But, no . . . you'll surely get malware all over your shiny tinfoil hat.
