Strategically ramming people while not slowing down yourself is a skill though. Also if it’s “so easy” because it requires “no skill”, why don’t you just do this to get back to the front? It’s all personal preference. Non contact races are all about taking the perfect route. In contact races, that aspect isn’t as important, because strategically sabotaging others while still driving decently fast and watching your back to not get rammed yourself is far more important. Yes, I do admit that there is also quite a bit more luck involved, but overall it just depends if you’re better at driving perfectly or driving strategically.

I personally prefer contact races, because non contact is basically grinding the same tracks with the same button inputs over and over until you mastered them. In contact races however, each race is different and every player can influence the other players. You need to be able to adapt to situations in a fraction of a second and always have a backup strategy ready. At least that’s my impression and experience.
