Hear me out… the SMP should’ve ended after Tommy’s finale stream.

I agree. Everything said in this post is my subjective opinion. I’ll talk about the plot in a bit but first an important note. Please read until the end.

As much as I don’t want Dream SMP to go, all things should come to an end to free up space for new things. SMP Live closure resulted in Wilbur’s SMP Earth, the most prominent creators of which then joined the Dream SMP when it was gone.

When DSMP was meant to go, Origins SMP was created. But you can’t be involved into 2 things at the same time, so it didn’t work out. Without a new server, nothing big happens and it quickly becomes boring for everyone.

And there isn’t a more perfect point in the lore to end it all. Dream’s imprisonment was a perfect finale.

As for the past finale Dream SMP. Not many things have actually happened. Here’s a list: * Snowchester (didn’t get an ending and was abandoned) * Kinoko Kingdom (abandoned), * Ranboo’s lore (abandoned), * Eggpire (feels unfinished), * The Syndicate (unfinished due to recent events), * Wilbur’s Burger Van (unfinished, abandoned), * Foolish’s befriending the gods arc (somewhat finished because of the statue) * Tales of the SMP (it’s a spin-off and isn’t directly connected to the main story)

That’s all I can remember. By the way, this has all happened throughout 2021 mainly. There wasn’t new lore branches in 2022.

I was most hyped about the Syndicate. Technoblade took it seriously. I have to say, it was the most consistent lore I’ve seen ever since Wilbur stepped down. There were more than 2 people involved and it was never abandoned like other branches of the lore. Every stream was linked to it.

Burger van lore had great potential but was abandoned. Foolish’s thing was interesting, but it wasn’t connected to other plot lines. There wasn’t a main storyline for smaller lore to evolve around. It all goes down without a head writer.

But as less and less people were involved into it, the server started to feel empty. This huge map full of relics of the past and the most notable things that happened during that period were literally just Foolish and sometimes Technoblade streams.

I hate to say it but, in my SUBJECTIVE opinion, with the majority of creators seemingly losing interest in Dream SMP, the server has to get a reboot with new creators to replace those who don’t want to play anymore.

But would it still be the same Dream SMP we love and enjoy without 60% of its creators who don’t want to play anymore? I don’t want to exclude anyone from the server, I’m using them as an example. Some of them played a huge part in the lore and Dream SMP wouldn’t be itself without them. The most obvious scenario would be – end the server to make way for Origins SMP or whatever they come up with in future. Dream SMP outlived SMP Live, SMP Earth and many other SMPs but it’s time for it to get a proper ending. They’re all good friends and they will definitely figure out what to do next. Together.

IMO, If the server stays empty for a long period of time, creators lose interest in Minecraft, and without big events some viewers lose interest in creators. Therefore, Minecraft dies, once again. It would be just like the 2019-2020 resurgence of Minecraft never happened.
