Hey everyone! /r/FootballGameFilm needs your help! -The Mods

Hey appreciate your interest! I've posted the game thread tutorial below. Play around with it and let me know if it's something you'd feel comfortable doing!

Here's the overview of the creation of a game thread:

First, all of our source video is pulled from NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/videos) There are a few ways to do this.

All videos are found under the video section at nfl.com

I usually like to select a game highlight reel (like this http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000515715/Preseason-Week-2-Bengals-vs-Buccaneers-highlights) and isolate a few moments for each team. (Keep in mind when clicking a video you often need to reclick the title near the top of the video window itself once it comes up to bring up the usable url. Otherwise it will just say nfl.com/videos)

We use streamable.com as our clip creator. its fast and super easy.

So once you have a video url, cut and paste the url for your video into streamable.com and it should immediately bring up the clip in an edit window. Drag where you want it to start and stop and click create. Then once you have pasted that clip's url into the post you're making (will look something like this: http://streamable.com/jtlu) you hit the back button to the home page of streamable, re-paste the main url into streamable's homepage (ex: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000515715/Preseason-Week-2-Bengals-vs-Buccaneers-highlights) and you repeat the process for the next clip.

There are also "cant miss plays" which you can select on the "video" drop down menu which can be your source for clips instead if that's your preference. You would follow the steps above, just with the url from whatever can't miss play you're using.

*Streamable does limit clips to :59 seconds so that's the only time limit we have.

Sounds like a lot but when you do it it's not easy, just wanted to include as many little details as possible!

Lastly this is our game thread template. When you create a text post, you simply copy/paste this into the body and fill it in with the streambale clip url for each clip. Then a brief description of the play (Brees TD Pass to Brandin Cooks)
