I've recently been on the hunt for research opportunities, and I'm having trouble determining which profs are a good fit for my interests. For example, I like both Spanish and phonetics. The phonetics specialist at my school doesn't have any projects analyzing Spanish. There is a prof who focuses on Spanish, but his work is in sociolinguistics and he doesn't usually take on undergrads. Another one of my interests is comparing Spanish and French. I'm guessing this isn't a very viable research field, as the profs at my school only study one or the other, never both. There are some opportunities for undergrads to do self-directed research, but those are only possible after finding a supervisor. So that leads me back to my original problem anyways. How do I find the right person to work with?
