How do I hang out with white people?

I'm white and also struggled for years to be liked by white women. This advice is pretty universal.

People love to talk about themselves. When you see the opportunity raise questions that invite people to tell stories about themselves. Avoid topics that lead to "venting" rather than storytelling.

At parties especially when you do get conversations going tell stories, and avoid "reading your resume" ie: "I'm from X city and work/study in Y". I personally think that people's imagination of strangers is more interesting than the reality. If people really want that kind of info dole it out in a way that makes them want to ask more details or draws out a connection from them.

If you create stained glass portraits of people's pets for a living, don't just blurt that out when someone asks what you do. "I'm an artist", makes them ask "oh what kind of art? ", etc. The momentary mystery and resolution is more engaging than dumping every detail at the first opportunity.
