I’m homeschooled, about to go into high school, and I don’t know if I should stay homeschooled or go back into public school.

Randomly saw this on my home page and I’m glad I did! I feel like I can comment here as an adult only because I was homeschooled. My first official class I was ever in was college when I was 18..

Dear god you need socialization! I can’t tell you how much damage being homeschooled did to me socially. I’ve struggled to make friends my whole life, only recently after intense effort on my part, have I been able to learn and unlearn behaviors I’ve had since childhood.

Homeschooling will mess you up. It’s NOT healthy to be so alone at home. No matter if you have a few group studies or extracurricular activities. ITS NOT ENOUGH. You need to jump back in to public school. Yes it’s going to suck at first, but think of it as necessary for growth. You need interpersonal skills.

The future you will thank you. Do the work now, don’t be an adult like me who struggles talking to people..
