Yeah they have lots they need to sell. Maybe they made too many. Maybe this is a gimmick to sell more cans to a market unlikely to spend bucko bucks, unlike audiophiles who'll just brag about the price anyway or price-inelastic professionals or whatever....

Who knows.

Slap a new model number on them to not "distort" the brand.

Sell for massive discount. Sell WAY more.

These things ARE NOT expensive to manufacture. Not free, but not expensive. They're making money.

They sound exactly like my friends HD650s. Keep in mind HD650s are ridiculously "neutral" headphones. You might not actually LIKE the sound even though they fantastically, truthfully reproduce whatever you throw at them. Read around a bit.

But it is a good deal. I don't know what the reason is. But probably they want to sell more cans. What can I say haha
