My mother is convinced that the BLM movement is violent/hate-filled because of a few articles she has read. How do I explain to her what the movement is actually about?

Honestly? No. I've had to cut several friends and most of my family from my life. There was no way they'd ever see or get past their racist conditioning, and the upsurge in right-wing media campaigns just reinforced their views. Stone-cold facts are flat out ignored and dismissed. It's very hard to get white folks to see past their priviledge.

Tiktok and Instagram activists might have some links that can help, but it'll take some digging around. Creators focus on the work of the movement, and its definitely not the job of black creators to do the heavy lifting for white folks. You can try Jolly Good Ginger, and follow his links and duets to see what white allies recommend.
