Need something new after Lost and Fringe

Lost and Fringe were incredibly strong shows by creating mystery and complex plots - making compelling scifi that was more dramatic than anything that ever came before it.

Both shows had extremely compelling characters too.

That being said... Abram's shows suffer from plot entropy. The mysteries keep building and building and the only way out is to "reset" somehow (as done in fringe often) and thus abandon them, or to confront them in unfulfilling ways where the writing frays and shows taht they had no idea what they were doing when they planted the seeds of those mysteries and arcs.

IMHO - if you like Fringe - it pulls from a lot of influences. The most primary is X-files. It, too, didn't know where it was going, but it was a great show and i loved Scully/Mulder as characters. The actress who plays Nina, is also in a movie called "Altered States". The tank Olive is often submerged in after being pumped full of drugs is also a main focus in Altered States. And then you have Twlight Zone which is really obvious. But that's an old anthology show and stylistically nothing like Fringe.

Orphan Black is nice - but it too is beginning to fray from ploy entropy.

Most Lost/Fringe fans like Battlestar Gallactica. Probably one of the best space scifi shows out there. It too, has a poor ending but the strength of the show (like with Lost) makes up for it.

If you want to see a decent enough show that has serialized arcs but was planned out from the beginning - watch Babylon 5. A little cheesy at times, totally 90s cgi effects, but great characters and tight writing able to adapt to changing circumstances with actors and such.
