Neurotic parishioners

OK I think perhaps we are using different terms. It is possible I am entirely unaware of "intense scruples" being synonymous with "scrupulosity" and if so, my ignorance would be the cause of my misunderstanding. FWIW I take "intense scruples" as a modification of scruples, the definition being:

1 : a sense of right and wrong that keeps a person from doing something bad. 2 : a feeling of guilt from doing something bad

Scrupulosity on the other hand I understand to be a disorder. I did not take "intense scruples" as meaning scrupulosity. Understanding that to be a basis for your response I completely understand that aspect of it.

If we drop the modifier so we are on level ground linguistically, would your answer be the same?
