Ehh, not racism. It's probably because an European country being invaded by the biggest nuclear power when it's so close to other NATO members would mean this invasion had the potential to indirectly drag the entire world into a nuclear war, more than any other invasion since before the Cold War. Which may have been quite literally the end. To avoid escalating into that but still pursue their interests, NATO member countries used social media to attack Russia instead, putting emphasis on the atrocities of war in this particular case, rile up the population of most western countries. But even that lost its effect, people got mostly bored of this "trend" and as Ukrainian people continue to die, everyone goes on with their life with just the ocassional sad mention. That should tell you how much race/skin color ever mattered.
