You are participating in a classic fallacy - “the rational consumer.” Prices are not always “fair,” it’s a concept that we target and often hover around, with frequent swings across it in either direction.

If one person buys a PS5 scalped for $5000, that does not mean that is a fair market price writ large. It means that person was individually willing to tolerate it. The market didn’t dictate it, an opportunist did in that moment, and someone who could tolerate it bore it.
