Great mate, I’m sure your help will be very useful to me about unlocking Infected mode on Resistance Retribution without a PS3.
You will have to enable 2 debug cheats I made but I’m going to assume that your Resistance Retribution version is USA with game ID UCUS-98668. If you have another version don’t follow the next steps and just let me know which one you have, then later and I will send you another cheat for your version and only then you can follow the next steps.
This is what I need you to do:
1- Make sure that you have TempAR cheat plugin working on your PSP and enabled. If you don't have it, you can download it from here
2- If you have the USA version of Retribution, grab the debug cheats from HERE and copy/paste it to the text file cheat.db (you can do it with notepad) located at ms0:/seplugins/tempAR. Make sure the cheats have the _C2 part.
3- Boot Resistance Retribution game on your PSP and when it starts to show Sony logos/intros, open TempAR menu (by default with home button+R at the same time), navigate to the [PRX] tab and where it says Pause Game? set it to True. Now go back to the game.
4- Skip the start button title screen and keep the game at the main menu, at the point where you can see the normal player character holding his weapon.
Now the more important steps.
5- Prepare your PS3 with Resistance 2 and connect the PSP and all that, but don’t confirm or infect the PSP game yet.
6- On the PSP, open TempAR menu, go to [PRX] tab again, now select Dump RAM? Slot #0 and press X. This will create a 24MB file on the memory stick, so wait a little.
7- After finished that, close plugin menu and you can now proceed to infect the PSP game (ignore PSP PLUS mode).
8- AFAIK, after infected you get a “press X button” prompt (you can press it to continue), and then the game will be at the main menu again with the player character holding his weapon, but now the player model you see is infected (yellow eyes, etc.).
9- At this point, open TempAR menu again, go to [PRX] and when selected Dump RAM? Slot … make sure you don’t use Slot #0 (we already used it), use Slot #1 (use direction button to change it) and press X. This will create a second file on the stick.
10- When done, you can close the PSP game and go to XMB. Connect PSP via USB to a computer and go to ms0:/seplugins/tempAR.
11- You should see here the 2 files TempAR created, named dump0.ram and dump1.ram. Compress these files with WinRar/7Zip or any compression tool (this way they will have a lower size) and upload them for me. You can use mediafire.com, zippyshare.com (this one doesn’t need registration) or any other filehost.
That’s all. This looks to be a lengthy process but I just wanted to be clear about the steps, in practice this is done very quickly. In case you are not clear on what to do at some part, let me know and I’ll give you more details.
