REU 2022 Megathread

3rd year Biology student, previous research experience at my institution in genetic engineering

  1. NYC Natural history museum - waiting
  2. Virginia Mountain lake field station evolutionary biology - waiting
  3. Harvard evolutionary biology and ecology - waiting
  4. Johns hopkins molecular biology - waiting
  5. Cornell molecular genetics - waiting
  6. Duke marine lab - submitting soon

This is my first experience with applying for an REU, and I don't have any friends who have tried, so any advice or guidance from anyone is welcomed. I'm concerned I won't be competitive because I don't fulfill any of the diversity goals, but I am a 27 year old vet so I'm curious if anyone thinks that may help my chances. And if anyone thinks having previous research experience will hurt my chances.
