As to the discussion at hand, Is what Oda created yours for the taking? Is any work of art in any format the property of your imagination? The answer is a resounding NO! If One Piece is subject to your head canon then you are Saint Charlos and it is your thoughts and views about this story that need to be liberated. Look to what Oda actually wrote about the character, look to any online character description and you won’t find a reference to homophobia anywhere. Technically you won’t find misogyny anywhere either.
