I’ve actually thought about this for a bit while.
Sequel from a POV of a young, dedicated marine. Set after about 10-15 years after Luffy became the PK.
Applied and selected into a special task force to hunt down the remnants of the Strawhats. By this point each and all of the Strawhat members have attained legendary status in their own right.
After some strategic planning, they decided to go after the ‘weakest’ members first, which are Nami and Usopp. Words from the top brass is, if they cant even get these people, then it will never happen and the task force will be disbanded. So they got extra motivated. Extensive planning and preparation were done.
They got intel on Usopp’s whereabouts from CP. Now is showtime, they head to the island. Arrived at the vicinity of the island where Usopp resides. Final preparations and tactical briefing are made. Usopp is a long-distance fighter, not the best in close quarter combat, so the best way to approach this is full-frontal assault with speed, to minimize Usopp’s window of attacking them from distance.
The leader of the task force gives the signal. Its go time. On they go to blitz Usopp, they reached the shores… and after a few minutes…
The protagonist on the den-den mushi called HQ to report
“PLEASE SEND REINFORCEMENTS ASAP!! ALL OFFICERS DOWN!! I’M THE ONLY ONE THATS LEFT!!”
“What happened” HQ asked
“OUR SNEAK ATTACK FAILED, HE DESTROYED US”
“All down??? How are you alive? Where is he?” HQ asked further.
“I TOOK COVER BEHIND A ROCK. I DONT KNOW WHERE HE IS. WE DIDNT SEE HIM.”
“What do you mean you didnt see him? How did he beat you guys?”
“I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. PEOPLE JUST STARTS DROPPING ONE AFTER ANOTHER.”
“HE DESTROYED US WITHOUT US EVEN GETTING A SIGHT OF HIM”
Cue Narrator ala Sabaody.
This is what i got so far. I know after Luffy became PK, the strawhats will likely be hailed as heroes more than anything else. So I’m still figuring out how to reconcile this with the fact that the marines are hunting them. Maybe someone who’s a better writer can figure this out.
