I don’t mean to resurrect a 6 day old comment, but I just had to jump in too.

When I started dating my ex, everyone said I was out of his league, but I figured he’d cherish me. Instead, he serially-cheated on me, was incredibly narcissistic, manipulative, abusive (e.g. crying and threatening suicide every time I tried to leave him, getting belligerently drunk and acting physically aggressive); and he behaved this way all while being objectively ugly and having low career ambitions/intelligence in the process.

I had to transfer universities and move back in with my parents to get away from him. He was so manipulative that I had to work with a therapist to help me break away from his abuse pattern. I learned later that my parents considered offering him money to never speak to me again.

It’s crazy what psychological mind games men like Pique are capable of and once their talons are into you, it’s so hard to get away. It’s better to just prevent it from happening to begin with.
