Should I quit keto?

Add a few carbs for relief and go more slowly into ketosis.

That sweet strange taste is just a normal sign of being in ketosis. I drink lots of water and carry sugar free breath mints. (lowest carb you can find)

There's an online community with tons of low carb message boards www.lowcarbfriends.com and if you go to the Atkins induction board you'll probably see plenty of others describing your symptoms. Not sure how many vegetarians there are to sympathise with you, mind you they will probably say bacon alot. But still - you'll know that this is not so unusual and might get a good bit of info.

I'm a vegan who only goes vegetarian for doing this diet and I totally feel you about the gross factor. I find that blue cheese salad dressing is one of the easier fatty dairy things to eat, and I'll chop some little cheddar pieces to go into it and then, mixed with a big bowl of spinach leaves or other greens, cucumber, mushrooms, etc. It's not so creepy and weird feeling in my mouth as a big blob of melted cheese would be. Also, I have a "dash-go" egg cooker that is amazing. Hb eggs that don't stink and I didn't have to see a raw egg. It's fast and the shell peels off so easy. So those get disguised too. Egg slicer thing and then salad.

Appetite reduction is one of the best things about going keto.

Here's a very junk food treat that works for me. A glass with ice, pour heavy cream over that and don't be shy with it. Pour diet root beer in and you've got a keto worthy root beer float. It's so good that I ignore my no soda rule. I need to lose a few pounds more than I need to worry about that. It's another only during keto thing for me.

Try the Atkins bars and shakes. The only shake I like is dark chocolate but ymmv.

Avocados, olives, nuts - best snacks ever.
