1973 Carrera 2.7 RSR

my first car was a 72 914 1.7l - long shift. got it for a deal bc the guy selling it thought the head was bad. my next car was a 914/6. added 3 dueces.... then went to a small turbo...added sway bars front and back, 911 clutch, 911 master cylinder. she was a beast! i funded about 25% of the project...dad funded the rest. he said why arent we messing around with a 911. i said, i would be happy to do so but i am poor - you have the funds. quite a bit of time past and my uncle was helping a friend work on a (i am not sure if this correct) 308 gtb ferrari. yellow. one of 14 made??? not sure of that either - you know how guys get when the talk about cars. nonetheless there was a 77/78/ yellow 308 gtb in the garage. at that time, late 80s the 308 was $29000.00 - now add $100k. i was just watching and listening to how the car cam apart. no bolts were seized. everything was an absolute joy to work on. 6 or 8 months later a 73 rsr came for sale. it had a few issues - ok, a lot of issues but we worked at it. we never got to putting a turbo or twins on it but my god. when it was done to our ability. it was something special. it was a beautiful car. that was the last porsche i owned. now, more american heavy metal (mustangs) raped and looted and pillaged (not really but very aggressive buying tactics) chevy tahoes with turbos and even one quad staged. these mustangs and tahoes would suck the doors off any porsche at the time but were no where near as fun to drive.....period end of story. i have driven most of the top end supercars ( no masserati or track aston players). the porsche for the dollar, fun factor and looks is, in my opinion, an unbeatable daily driver. if you have the time and resources. this rsr beauty is worth every minute and dollar you spend or restoration. how many of these so called super cars are you going to take to their limits every weekend? ... none. how many of the daily 911s will you ring out and enjoy. all of them. yes i understand if you have the 1 to 5 million to drop and it means nothing...or course you will. but, for the enthusiast who wants something special - enjoy many of the 911 options!!!
