I was expecting one answer to actually answer his question come on guys!! There are many frustrations lately but to me I will still put the time in to wait for a working BR match. Hackers rarely join BRs. I've played 100+ matches, only seen one.
You basically need to be faster. If you don't get into a BR server within 4-10 seconds of it popping up for you it usually means 200ish people clicked in faster than you. Not having an established name for that server makes you click in a lot slower. It helps to have a copy pasted name ready to control+v to save a couple of seconds. (A couple weeks ago before the newest patch if you didn't click the Play BR button within like 2 seconds TOPS of it being clickable you are too slow. It's a bit easier now since they added more servers)
Other tips: Click the EU button on the top right to include European servers. There are 24 US BR servers and 24 EU BR servers.
Sort servers alphabetically, and scroll down to Batter. All BR servers will appear under Batter. Now when you click the top Play Battle Royale button it automatically chooses the top server of the list if multiple BR servers appear at once. So save time by clicking the 2nd or 3rd server that appeared, and then click JOIN on the bottom right, NOT Play Battle Royale because that will always just take you to the one on the top of the list. Most people don't do that first so you almost always beat them.
Unfortunately, with the current state of the game since about 1-2 weeks ago I my client now crashes in some way for more than 50% of the BRs I try to join. 98% of the time it crashes before the game can start for you. BUT, with patience, getting used to Task manager-> h1z1-> end task-> steam-> end task then reboot h1z1 you can manage to get into a BR after 5 to 10 minutes along with patience waiting for the servers to appear. (If I'm super ready to play I will just take deep breaths and stare at the button to turn white, otherwise I watch a twitch stream while waiting and have the button sticking out so I can see when a server pops up)
