Having said my other comment. What practical purpose would knowing that “Hurr Durr Italy has 2 aircraft carriers!” Serve most members of the general American public? Lmao

It’s not our fault that -within its region- Italy draws a fairly insignificant amount of the US general public’s collective attention.

Maybe if Italy was “better” than the other European countries I mentioned in my linked comment we’d need to be taught more about them in our “shitty” schools.

Here’s a fun fact I remember about Italy. They placed 2nd in the 4x100 Berlin Olympics. The US came in 1st and Nazi Germany came in 3rd.

I don’t know who came in 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th and I don’t really care. Which is probably a perfect microcosm into why I -generally- don’t have to give a shit about Italy without it effecting my life in a major way.
