I have always believed Psychoanalysis is more effective than psychology, and also that psychoanalysis isn’t given enough attention I feel. I would appreciate any opinions on the matter. How is Psychoanalysis more effective than Psychology. I would really appreciate anything you guys have to say :-)

I’m in the US. Psychology and things like Cognitive Behavioral therapy and other methods of psychology are different than Psychoanalysis and both fields have different methods. Psychologists have the DSM & Psychoanalysis has the PDM (Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual). The fields are different from one another so I am not understanding the confusion your having

I’m simply asking if the methods used by Psychoanalyst to treat patients are more effective than that of a psychologist.

I’m also aware of the differences. In the US Psychoanalysis is a different field and acquired different requirements. But it is different than (CBT) therapy.
