Psychosis

The real thing I'd do is toss all this and read on "Theory evaluation" in 101 textbooks (example):

  • scope
  • logical consistency
  • parsimony
  • utility
  • testability
  • heurism
  • test of time

The risk with any theorist is some of us lose our ability to think critically and challenge theorists measure up. It becomes blind faith.

Like really, Bion goes on about The Grid with the same pomp Lacan does about his stuff - both arrive nowhere. You can't use this stuff in legit research. You can waste decades and no progress comes of it.

I think that a healthy dose of skepticism and challenging theory - rather than getting attached to it - is where the real learning happens. That's how you peer review and make sure work is bullet proof so you can operationalize and get work done.
