Initially Susan was my favorite character because I loved Teri Hatcher in Lois and Clark, but I actually like her less and less every time I re-watch the series. She's such a Mary Sue and so self-involved, her daughter is more emotionally mature than she is. I think she's a bad mother because she treated Julie like her friend even at a very young age, because she needed Julie to take care of her and give her guidance but that's what Susan should've been doing for Julie.

Above all she's driven by a self-centered need to get what she wants and then acts annoyingly helpless when she ends up ruining everything. It's funny because Edie always perfectly verbalizes what I'm thinking about Susan.

Bree, otoh, I love more and more.
