The whole Adele character never really made sense to me in Mike’s backstory. She seemed so out of place with Mike’s wildcard history- would a preening Southern helicopter mom let her son spiral and live rough like that? And just randomly having a husband in prison for life? I guess lots of conservative parents abandon children and stick with bad men, but it doesn’t really ring true with her role later on.

This show in general has that problem though where they introduce a character’s parent and then the other (separately) a few seasons later. Sometimes they just don’t feel congruous with each other at all.
