Very interesting points. The story you have described about Hakka people is oddly similar to what I was told about my ancestry. My father also told me that my ancestry could be traced back to the Song Dynasty where my ancestors were also court officials who had to flee to avoid the "kill 9 generation". Before that, everything was erased. My dad speculated that it was to avoid being found and killed.

Even today, I have relatives who had very successful careers in government. Like you said, most are highly educated, 3 Phds in my family, I myself have two Masters.

Martial arts is also something that runs in the family. My grandfather, father and myself are all trained in various forms of martial arts. I thought that was something only unique to my family as well, even knew it was a Hakka thing.
