Gun bans are in the party platform, and if you don’t tow the party line by supporting assault weapons bans you doom your Democratic career, and a lot of those other policies unfairly discriminate against low income households and minorities. But if you look at the bills they’ve been drafting (that have no chance of passing as of yet... because of how insane they are) I can’t believe that they are the sensible party on all things anymore. The last federal bill sneakily tried to define “assault weapons” (the stuff dems want “out of civilian hands”) to include semi-automatic handguns, which are the main tool of self defense.

I’m not interested in a gun debate in an environmentalist sub but yes the dems are very anti-gun. I don’t know where you got the idea that they are light on gun laws because I’ve been reading the bills they are drafting.
